In Deuteronomy 18:15-20, Moses tells the people that God will raise up a prophet from among them, and they must listen to him. God promises to put His words into the prophet's mouth, and those who refuse to listen will be held accountable. False prophets will face severe consequences.
Second Sunday of Advent – Gospel
Mark 1:1-8 describes the inception of Jesus Christ's gospel. It includes a prophecy from Isaiah about a messenger, John the Baptist, who emerges in the desert preaching a baptism of repentance for sins. John foretells the arrival of one mightier than himself, promising a baptism through the Holy Spirit.
